Privacy Policy

Celah ("Celah", "we", "us", or "our") is a monthly check-in app for couples. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Celah is built around a simple idea: your reflections are private until you choose to share them with your partner, and our handling of your data follows that principle.
1. Overview
When you use Celah, you create an account, you and your partner form a "couple", and you record private reflections, goals, and memories during a recurring check-in. We collect only what we need to provide that experience, keep it in sync between you and your partner, and keep it secure.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content of your reflections to serve advertising.
2. Information we collect
Account information
When you sign up we collect your email address and display name. Depending on how you sign in, we receive an identifier from your chosen provider: Sign in with Apple, Google, an email magic link, or a password. We never receive your Apple or Google password.
Relationship & check-in content
This is the heart of the app and the information you create yourself, including:
- Your written reflections, answers, and notes during a check-in;
- Goals, commitments, and homework you set, and your progress on them;
- Memories and journal entries you save;
- Details you choose to add about your partner and your children (such as a name, birthday, or relationship status) so the app can personalize your check-ins.
Device & usage information
To deliver notifications you opt into, we store a device push token. We also collect limited, aggregate usage and diagnostic information to keep the app reliable. We do not build advertising profiles.
Subscription information
If you subscribe, your purchase is processed by Apple. We and our subscription provider (RevenueCat) receive your purchase status and a transaction identifier so we can unlock the app for you and your partner. We never receive your full payment-card details.
Calendar and photos
If you grant permission, Celah can add check-in reminders to your device calendar and save a memory card to your photo library. These actions happen on your device with your permission; we do not read your calendar events or photo library.
3. How we use your information
- To provide, maintain, and personalize the Celah experience;
- To keep your check-in content in sync between you and your partner;
- To send reminders and notifications you have opted into;
- To process subscriptions and unlock access for your couple;
- To diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve the app;
- To comply with legal obligations.
5. Sharing with your partner
Celah is designed for two people. By design, content you complete and submit during a check-in becomes visible to your partner within your couple. Some reflections are private to you until you choose to share them. Information you add about your partner or children is part of your shared couple space. Please only add information you are comfortable sharing with your partner.
If you leave a couple or close your account, your partner may retain copies of content that was already shared with them, just as you may retain content they shared with you.
6. Storage & security
Your data is stored with our infrastructure provider, Supabase, and access is restricted by row-level security so that only you and your partner can read your couple's content. We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data retention & deletion
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us at support@celah.us. We will delete or de-identify your information except where we are required to retain it for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes. Note that content already shared with your partner may remain in their copy of the couple's data.
8. Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise these rights by emailing support@celah.us. You can also manage notification permissions, calendar access, and photo access in your device settings at any time.
9. Children's privacy
Celah is intended for adults (18 and older) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Information you choose to add about your own children is entered by you, the adult account holder, and is treated as part of your couple's content. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, please contact us so we can remove it.
10. Subscriptions & payments
Celah subscriptions are sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system and billed to your Apple Account. Apple handles your payment details; we receive only your subscription status. For more information, see Apple's privacy policy and our Terms of Service.
11. International users
Celah is operated from the United States. If you use the app from outside the United States, your information will be processed and stored in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws than your own.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of Celah after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
